Why is the Sky Blue ? 2023!
The sky appears blue to us because of a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering.
Sunlight is made up of different colors, each with a different wavelength. When sunlight enters Earth's atmosphere, the shorter blue wavelengths are scattered in all directions by the gases and particles in the air. This causes the blue light to be scattered all over the sky, giving it a blue hue.
This effect is stronger near the horizon where the sunlight passes through more atmosphere and the blue light is scattered more widely, creating a lighter blue or even white color, while in the zenith (overhead), the sky appears darker blue because the blue light is scattered more directly towards our eyes.
Other factors like weather, cloud cover, and air pollution can affect the color of the sky, but the basic reason why the sky appears blue is due to the Rayleigh scattering of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere.
